I was just reading Stan Lee's brother in court explaining how he got a page of Kirby art, Jack stormed in furious and ripped a page in two and threw it in the garbage, then Stan Lee's brother snuck over and took the art and taped it back together to study it.

So I got interested in reading more from the court case. I love Stan Lee's bro, Larry Lieber,'s explanation of the Marvel Style.
Q: What’s your understanding of what Marvel style was?
LARRY LIEBER: The Marvel style is what Stan did, or I think I said in the interview it began around the time of the super-heroes and with Jack Kirby, perhaps with others, I don’t know. Jack might have been — I think Jack was the first. And where he would discuss a story or a plot with the artist and the artist would write it — not write, I’m sorry. The artist would lay it out and draw it with enough knowledge about what the story is and leave room for dialogue to come later.
    haw haha

nyeah not write it. He didn't write it, shee? mYeah, he "laid it out". That's th' ticket, shee?

That seems so weird to me, the leaving space for dialogue. Like, a lot of old EC horror comics they have characters basically ducking out of the way of the word balloons, heh.

    Hahah

Thinking about it though, I used to draw like that. All of my old comics from when I was a kid, it was such a struggle to fit in my Shakespearean dialogue.

Today's lament...there was a time when any pig-monkey could send their dreams in to be drawn by Jack Kirby.

Do you know what I would give, to have Jack Kirby draw one of my dreams?!
I don't...but I'm almost glad I never got the chance. It would be Hell trying to choose which dream...it would be too tempting to embellish it just to fill it with things you've always wanted to see drawn by Jack Kirby and you'd never stop...I could've sent him a phonebook...and, if your dream didn't get chosen it would be devastating. So...
At least this was before his prime too.

And then here's the first panel from Kirby's 1957 exploration of the the 4th Dimension.
