    Justice League (2017)

I watched Justice League last night. I was fully intending to not be wow'd and I really wasn't. I don't think it's as bad as the reviews it's getting but for something that has arguably the three most popular comic book characters in history it's underwhelming. This should have been Avengers dialed up to 11 but it's not.

    Spoiler:

The movie begins with a bunch of kids doing a smartphone interview of Superman. The cgi removal of Cavill's mustache is distracting.

Batman appears and we get our first look at a parademon and Batman throws down. It's actually done pretty well and even the parademon looks good. I'm beginning to think that isn't going to be as bad.

Then I see Steppenwolf, and wow he looks like a video game character. I honestly want to know where the $250M and $50M for reshoots went.

Just like the trailers, Batman and Wonder Woman begin to assemble the League along with Superman.

Then Batman's plan to defeat Steppenwolf is to bring back Superman.

This movie is okay at best.

    There are some highlights.

The "end battle" itself with Steppenwolf was good with somewhat of a lackluster finish. However, the BIG boss fight is something that's kind of lacking in CBM as the only other examples is AOU and Ultron and X-Men vs. Apocalypse. I'm not including one on one with say Cap vs. TWS, Batman vs. Bane, etc.

The battle against Steppenwolf in the past was pretty good seeing all the cameos and a Green Lantern.

Aquaman sitting on Wonder Woman's lasso.

A lot of the dialogue between the characters, I'm guessing is probably Whedon's touches.

I did like the mid and end credits scene .

    The bads?

    Obviously, the CGI.

The continuity. All these people who were at Clark's funeral in the end help his mom move back to their house with no issues.

To me the film felt uneven and I'm not sure it's because we had 2 different directors.

    The story is pretty generic.

    Uninteresting villain.

2.5/3 out of 5? Maybe I'm being generous because I've been wanting a JL for a long time.

Wonder Woman is probably the best character in JL. Almost a continuation from her previous movie.

I was thinking of the comparison between Black Panther's performance in CW vs. Aquaman's in JL and BP actually had an arc and Aquaman is just there. He does have scene which I've seen in comics before involving the lasso which was pretty funny.

This movie isn't the shit storm that Batman vs Superman is and it's definitely not painful the way Suicide Squad is, but man, this was a mess. It makes me sad that I live in a world where a fucking Justice League movie is just okay and generic. Justice League should have been the pinnacle for superhero team up movies, but it's incredibly uninspired.

    Pros:

    - Henry Cavill's is extremely Superman-y in this, which is extremely refreshing
    - Gal Gagot is always a pleasure
    - Ezra Miller is definitely the highlight and I look forward to seeing what a solo Flash movie is like
    - Aquabro was enjoyable
    - When Danny Elfman's Batman theme came on I think I peed myself a little
    - That moment when Flash is running and Superman's eyes shift and he looks directly at him was a pretty cool moment
    - I did like both mid-credits and end-credits scenes

    Cons:

    - CGI is fucking awful
    - I feel like because Ragnarok is still very fresh in my mind, seeing that beautifully bright and lively Kirby world thriving makes everything about Steppenwolf/Apokolips much more insulting. What a offensively disgustingly bland portrayal of what could have been a truly epic threat.
    - Because Snyder and Whedon both have such distinguishing styles it makes the tone so much more jarring and noticeable? Like "Yep, that's Whedon dialogue" or "Yep, there's Snyder's self-serious/slow-mo tone."
    - Speaking of Snyder, that "subplot" of the family trapped during the Parademon attack served no purpose.
    - CGI mustache removal
    - Fucking Batman making quips.
    - Nitpicky, but how can Batman catch the Flash while he's running?

I feel like we didn't earn this movie at all. Now the brand of Justice League is tainted and feels like a rushed Avengers ripoff. I didn't hate it, but if that's the best I can say then what does that tell you? Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman deserve so much better.
