    Ready Player One (2018)

One of the very few times i ever create a thread but i just finished the book and Speilberg is currently directing in England.

it stars simon pegg, cyclops from xmen apocalypse, weasel from deadpool. John Williams is doing the score.

takes place in a dystopian future where this virtual system/game called the oasis is the basis of the story. The creator of oasis leaves in his will a hidden easter egg throughout the game and who ever finds it inherits the entire oasis program and billions and billions of dollars. The main character wade watts has to solve riddles, play classic arcade games as well as remember key references to 80's pop culture such as movies, tv shows, video games, d&d, music in order to find the keys to the egg.

I honestly dont know how theyre going to get the rights to most of the references from monty python, to the delorean, to ultraman.

All video game and 80's geeks should read this book. Im really looking forward to the movie, although i kinda think this story probably deserves 2 movies as it might strip so much to fit into 1.

I enjoyed some parts of the book but others got too "Geek Culture: The Fan Fiction" for my tastes. Still I'm intrigued to see what some scenes will look like, especially related to the tests he goes through for the keys.

i think those should be fairly easy. It will be the different worlds/themes and as the story progesses the "trophies" he gets that will end up helping in the end.

If they made Who framed Roger Rabbit, I'm sure they can make this. Not that I've read it yet. Read some of the first chapter though. I enjoyed it!

I guess and it is spielberg so he probably will get a lot of these rights. What part have you gotten up to?

Just the first page or two. I just read what was on the Amazon page, the 'read here' bit. So not really much at all.
