Watched the first two, and yeah I really like it so far. Not as scary as I thought it would be, but the classic Spielberg feel is real and the kid actors are solid and not annoying. Love the cop and mom

I binge-watched this in two days. So amazing.

It's a mix of E.T., Goonies, Silent Hill, Firestarter, Alien, and Poltergeist. With music sounding like it belongs in They Live and Day of the Dead.

Watch it and don't be lame.

Four episodes in. So hooked...may stay up all night and finish it. I like that the soundtrack included Tony Orlando. And nice Coca Cola promo, too.

I thought it was great, very strong horror series with so many influences from almost everything sci fi/horror. Love the tone, the throwback to Twin Peaks or a more adult Are You Afraid of the Dark kind of feel. Strong performances, plot is constantly moving forward each episode, it's really good.

It's hard to talk about plot specifics without spoiling things. Kids, and other people in a suburban town, are trying to figure out what the fuck is going on when people start going missing.

    Chief Hopper was cool.

He had this relaxed demeanor but then was direct and fast acting when shit goes down.

    Spoiler:
I love that he starts putting together the conspiracy with the government. He knows the government is lying to him, planted a fake body, and he knows they're hiding something in the facility in the woods... so he just goes in, winging it, fighting his way through, to find the kid.

There's various characters who are on their own doing stuff,

    Joyce

Played well by Winona Ryder, IMO. Fucking awesome scene

    Spoiler:
She's really the closest one to the truth of what's happening for a couple episodes, and her son is in the alternate dimension, she's trying to break down the wall... it was really quite emotional and tense, because we hadn't seen this kid since the start of the show, and there he is, just behind some freaky alien-wall, and she's trying to break through, but all she's doing is chopping down her house wall in our dimension... like, that was pretty high drama to me.

Loved the use of diegetic music within the world of the show, and the use of synth in the soundtrack - a little bit of a Carpenter influence I think. It's a good show, no wasted episodes, good visuals for the horror stuff, and gets better and picks up steam very quick. By the 3rd episode I was pretty much locked in, had to watch the rest asap.
