How long does a typical page take you?
It's hard to say, especially cause I'm in the middle of reevaluating that process

With those pages I roughed them out digitally, printed them and did tight pencils over that, then inked them digitally. I probably spent 12-14 hours on each of those. By the time I was inking them it was kind of a drag at times, especially the boring stuff like buildings. Cause it felt like I was drawing it for the third time.

So the pages I'm doing now, I skipped doing the digital roughs, I went straight from thumbnails to doing pencils. Keeping them rougher and looser than last time. The idea being when I ink them it will be more fun and fresh, hopefully more energy.

That's probably way more info than you were looking for, but here we are.

My favorite is Batman in "Let's see what you got, freak." and the panel after that, and all the black is suh-weet.

except I would've put highlights on the black hair buut...
I went back and forth on the hair thing

Was going for this (the last panel)

But, the way that's cropped helps

Excellent. I like the fat boys face of bewilderment and dispair.

I had this Spidey sketch I was inking and then I realized I'd never drawn the Ditko wings before, so I did a version with them

    Dude ....

    Okay,
    - Those are the best Spider-Man foot shapes I've seen in so long.
I have bitched before about how rare it is to see anyone who can do the good feet.

    You see,
    Infected and swollen moon boots

    Pajama-Toe

    Pointy-Toe

    I love the shape-of-dress shoes - feet.

And rilly good line variation on inked Spider-Man.

Also love the pencil Spider-Man head.

Also the simple, lightning-like hair highlights on the last guy.

Critique time - You got sloppy on the inking on the last guy.

    - Haha, I was just trying to imagine being Alex Toth,

For the life of me I can't figure out what you were THINKING on his right bicep muscle. DAMN IT, Mee!

    hahaha

Anyway, his right bicep shadow is bad, looks like "whatever".
And what I've learned is that you can get away with those shorthand swoops of ink on pants to suggest folds in the pants,
but they still have to be based on some 3D physics of cloth a little.
It ended up looking like a bunch of x's got graffitied on his pants.

Like, the pants should be responding to the tension of that little holster belt laying across them.
But it looks like you inked a guy wearing pants, and then drew the belt over the drawing of of a guy in pants,
instead of drawing a guy wearing pants and a holster.

And even when they do a few of those shorthand cloth-fold lines, they still think of where the cloth is pulled tight and where it flows and bunches up, like, you can really see on this,
like a system of flowing lines getting pinched off, looks like a weather map.

I think those bold shadows on the front of his pants, going over his zipper thing,
don't make sense and it should have just been clean.

    unrelated
Holy crap, way long ago, you asked me if I was doing this messed up proportion on purpose for the hero in my comic and I could not find a good example of what I was shooting for.
While looking for examples of wrinkly pants just now, I found one.
It's like this no-pelvis, high-up crotch and then legs stream off of at that v-point:

    Totally dead on

I had that all done (that's Bloodshot btw from Valiant) and then realized I forgot that little belt and I just slapped it on there

The folds yeah you're right, they're not as reactive or thought out as they should be. That reminds me one of the things Klaus told me when he was nitpicking something about a building I drew, he said something like "now I notice this as an artist, a normal person probably wouldn't. OR they WILL notice something is OFF, without realizing what it is."

And that made me think of Plinkett always saying "...but your brain did."
