i feel like best songs are way different than best albums. like, i want to listen to that Sufjan Stevens album a lot, or the FKA Twigs EP, but those are like whole mood pieces, so my fave albums don't necessarily consist of my fave songs, which are often standout tracks on albums that are only like 7/10 on my like scale (Dan Deacon, Drake, etc). so, apologies to FKA Twigs and Sufjan and Julia Holter.

my #1 was posted in the other thread but OK. 10 is asking a lot.

When I Was Done Dying - Dan Deacon. A REAL TRIP MAN.

TuJqUvBj4rE

Well I woke up to see them, these two mighty steeds
With their mouths grinning wildly, expressing my needs
As they stood there above me, being flanked on each side
I felt no need to fear them, no reason to hide
So I reached up to touch but they faded too soon
Yet their mouths still remained and stacked up towards the moon
How that ladder of mouth waved so soft in the night
And I looked up in awe at that beautiful sight

and on.

Bored in the USA - Father John Misty

this song was technically released before the album at the tail end of last year and I put it on my 2k14 list but since the album came out this yr it can go on my 2k15 list. this thread is gonna get clogged with YouTube vids so I'll spare you posting a version of this, since the version you want to watch isn't on there anyway. Google "Bored in the USA Letterman" and watch FJM fucking smoke it.

Depreston - Courtney Barnett. I LOVE THIS BISH. dope lyricist. this song is a sort of pretty lil downer but she usually is on some punkier shit. her whole album is dope af.

uP1z9kQPtU4

Hotline Bling - Drake. i'll spare u. usually i get sick of these mega-hits that you can't escape but this one is tooooo sick to me. Also really liked Energy by Drake. Again, I'll spare u, u've heard it. BITCHES ASKIN BOUT THE CODE FOR THE WI-FIIIII, SO THEY CAN TALK ABOUT THEY TIMELIIIIIIINE. what a lyric for 2k15.

Erykah Badu ft Andre 3k - Hello. SIIIIIIIICK lil joint. sounds like a black people sunrise, y'all

y2O68EO51X0

Beach House - Beyond Love. pretty standard amaze-o beach house joint. love the part near the end that Victoria sings like a run-on sentence reads.

wy5iwc1NwXg

Panda Bear - Boys Latin. 2 sick. BEASTS, DON'T, HAVE, A, SEC, TO, THINK

prBaZzYmQrI

Salvatore - Lana Del Rey. this song is only OK musically but it makes me laugh and I think LDR gets shit on too much.

QPLUL-Ra_jk

A song knowingly playing with a cliched premise (the ol' movie chestnut of an America woman going to Italy and getting swept off her feet by an Italian dude), the lyric is super funny to me. LDR sings as if she only knows about 3 Italian words: cacciatore, limousine, amore. And then "gelato" doesn't rhyme so she just says "soft ice cream," hahahalol.

Karen Don't Be Sad - Miley Cyrus. this track is clearly an old Flaming Lips song that they just gave to Miley. that's dope.

OKv-03S4ESw

that's all i can think of right now

Anyway,
here are the Top 10 JaMMy JaMz of 2015, BOYeeeee.

#1 - Crazy by 4Minute

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nCLBTmjJBY
Very exciting Cultural Appropriation in this killer video which out-did all other Pop bands on the planet.

#10 - Ce-am avut si ce-am pierdut by Soren Talent

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gG31z0Yur6E&list=PLuz3ktok1OP8kaEaJghQLUv6 GWLA6RJIM&index=40

That is all.

Man, Music is dead.
Look at this shit, the "Top 40 Songs of 2015"...

1) Uptown Funk
a song that is good because it is an exact rip of an '80s song trying to do a rip of James Brown.

3) Take Me To Church
literally, one of the most powerfully, potently, physically revolting, criminally embarrassing "songs" that has ever happened.

This?
This isn't The Onions Top 40? Right?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgKAFK5djSk

If you can make it, through that video, hopefully you'll die soon, in great agony. You are my enemy.
Wiz Khalifa reminds me of when they used to try a new procedure called a "lobotomy" on people, but the patient didn't "respond" well, so they jammed another ice pick up the patients other eye socket and scrambled around a bit hoping to fix something, kind of like hitting an old TV as hard as you can to try to improve reception.
He is brain damaged and "raps" like dogshit in the 3rd Grade of dogshit school.
Famous, why?

There's nothing to even say about the other piece of shit in that video.
Wow, the masses today would have really loved Christian Pop from the '90s.

9) A Song By MAROON 5
...congratulations, public.
It says a lot, that when there were shit-ass bands in the '90s, like Hootie & The Blowfish, or The Spin Doctors...at least THEY DIED OUT,
but this shit-ass band from the '90s, has found more success than ever, in 2015, where dancing, is just something you do on the grave of Rock and Roll.

31) Can't Feel My Face by Weeknd
performing a song that sounds like a throwaway improvised song Michael Jackson might mutter to himself while getting up to use the restroom in the middle of the night, like when you walk in to the kitchen to make a sandwich and sing to yourself,
♪♫ Walkin' to the kitchen
To make myself a sandwich ♪♫

34)
Paul Simon and Chevy Chase were silly-buds from SNL.
Christopher Walken dancing to Fatboy Slim was amazing.

This,
is not amazing. In fact, it's nigh-unwatchable.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qV5lzRHrGeg

Also, Sia, appears on the list twice, the most punch-able voice in music today.

Fuck this planet.

Basically anything off the new albums from these artists:

Grimes (Art Angels is GOAT album of the year)
Sufjan Stevens
Kendrick Lamar
Courtney Barrett
Alabama Shakes
Beach House
Chvrches

More about Art Angels, SCREAM live is GOAT song of the year (Trent Reznor if he was a millennial girl)

Wilford Brimley

i like Grimes, what she's about. can't get into her music. i've only heard SCREAM and laughing and not being normal both which I'm indifferent to

maxwell's demon
12-17-2015, 01:15 AM
yeah. im still trying to figure out Grimes. its weird. i don't HATE what im hearing, but it doesn't do a whole lot for me? and its denfitely interesting? i feel like if i listend to her a lot for a month or two it might click, but i haven't felt like doing that.
Anyhow, between Ben, Jake and you i feel like half of my list got notched off (Deacon, Barnett, Beachhouse, Panda Bear, neon indian, erykah, chvrches (sort of). and Jake put a dent in my Alma Mater Roster listing Deacon up there.

Girl in a Sling, Destroyer: i feel like the last few destroyer albums have been a bit too well rounded? like one or two standout songs and then a bunch of songs where i'd like the demos more than the album versions. anyhow that's what i like Girl in a Sling better than some of the 'pop' tracks like Dream Lover or Times Square. it reminds me of some of the smaller songs from Notorious Lighting- and that's probably the album most like this one. too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcWD_CroKhc&list=PLwBhief0jl35VooVBvkJX0jAnuzk_Y3xw&index=6

Ghost of Red Hook, Dialect: sometimes i just want to feel like im listening to the soundtrack from an 80s B Sci-fi film after i drank a bottle of DM:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjN-7nFBYEI

bros, wolf alice: super commerical, deep-channeling the cranberries, but allison loves it and fin loves it and it makes me happy so nyeahhh.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TD_Q9CxXTo4

karla's retreat, hoferlanz: my buddy ben!

back to manhattan, jeff lewis my buddy Jeff! doing his best luna-covering-23minutes-over-brussels here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QDiST2a0q0

sororal feelings, u.s. girls -she's got that cool siouxie/bats4lashes voice thing and i kind of place her around the same space as grimes, but more tangible, less produced?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khQcQot09SI&list=PLadu247IvYidKSrDf3rngMHxXM48xqkLP&index=1

You Can't Live There Forever, The World is a Beautiful Place & I am No Longer Afraid to Die = fillin' that empy low-fi spot in my heart nicely.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBK-f4Bar3c&list=PLgn7KGLhwsCS2_thjFAL5J_jdmkkAcJ79

changes, langhorne slim: good solid stuff. productions a little too balanced but it's good.

This is really true and I feel good about it. I keep listening to that Dialect album Gowanus Drifts and I'm super digging it. I do like the song I posted, but it's so meant to be listened to as a whole. I feel like it'd be really great to listen to while high or otherwise altered.
