new arcade fire track, sort of dark dance music, with David Bowie guest vocals there for a bit in the second half.

So that song is fucking great.

How is it we haven't had an Arcade Fire thread before now?

09-08-2013, 11:33 PM
We aren't as good at keepin up on music threads here as we were on LSP. Here it seems like the only non-genre thread that sticks is The Beatles, which was basically a carry-over from LSP

09-09-2013, 03:53 AM
i like neon bible a lot. as far as i'm concerned they've put out 3 albums that are solid 9.5s

love this video, love the dancing in the 2nd half, really made the song catch fire in my brain.

yeah totally obsessed with Afterlife now.

Afterlife. what an awful word.

10-24-2013, 07:42 PM
can we just work it out, scream and shout, till we work it out... till we work it out

10-24-2013, 07:42 PM
like seriously. super solid track. def my fave from what i've heard so far.

10-24-2013, 07:43 PM
yea i dig it a lot i still dig Reflektor even more tho

10-24-2013, 07:47 PM
i dunno i'm def more on board with afterlife. like seriously jamming hard to that

10-24-2013, 08:10 PM
yea i prefer the specificity of Reflektor's lyrics. rlly kind of sums up the paranoia and thematic concerns of the present. even stuff like "we fell in love/when i was nineteen/i was staring at a screen," you don't hear lyrics with that sort of evocation of what it's like to be growing up in the 2000s or 2010s

and Reflektor has this great sort of dark dancey build-up throughout. for me it feels like its from the same ideaspace as like...some of the more beat-y dancey Radiohead stuff from Kid A or Amnesiac

i dig Afterlife a lot too tho. "Afterlife...what an awful word." that's like, yeah. the chorus is a little broad but it still works. and the tune is good. i kind of don't want to lose the video when i'm listening to it in my car tho!

10-24-2013, 08:16 PM
Do they still sound like precocious spoiled brats?

That's what they always sounded like, Precocious Spoiled Brats: The Band.

10-24-2013, 08:17 PM
surprised u haven't listened to Reflektor wil, it has Bowie guest vocals.

10-24-2013, 08:24 PM
also heres the whole album

10-24-2013, 11:23 PM
really like joan of arc

10-24-2013, 11:50 PM
I've only really heard reflektor when they played it on Colbert the other night as a band called 'the reflektors' for some reason. it's pretty neat. ima hold off on any further listening until I can 'buy' the cd in at least v0 quality.

10-25-2013, 12:25 AM
Oh, Orpheus is pretty solid too.

10-25-2013, 12:28 AM
I dunno i've been listening to the whole thing on and off all day at work. tonight i'm gonna listen to the whole thing through

10-25-2013, 12:34 AM
I listened off and on at work today but I'mma wait til I get my CD to give a dedicated listen

10-25-2013, 12:39 AM
hm i guess its out super soon. but pretty sure im still gonna listen to it again tonight haha

10-25-2013, 12:55 AM
Yea I preordered it. They've been emailing me first dibs at tix for these theme party shows they've been doin as the reflektors. Cool but I need em to hit Chicago or something.

10-26-2013, 07:28 PM
also at the party i was at last night the dj played reflektor and it was sooo fun to dance to i now think its my fave

11-04-2013, 06:37 AM
do you like PURE HUMAN JOY???

then watch this

DON'T watch it if you want to not be in love with Greta Gerwig.

11-11-2013, 01:50 AM
i love her.

also i have decided my fave part of the album is from joan of arc---afterlife

11-11-2013, 02:16 AM
same. It's Never Over (Hey Orpheus) is my #1 jam. the part where it gets quiet? and when you get older...you will discover...it's never over... and the music is all tinkly, YES, and then you get the falsetto Win/Regine Orpheus/Eurydice part there at the end, dang.

11-14-2013, 11:54 PM

11-15-2013, 12:26 AM
i seem to have a vague memory of almost going to that show, and us almost meeting at least in theory, but that never happened

11-15-2013, 12:26 AM
